Flare

Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Flare collects, uses, and shares information when you use our products and services (the "Service"). Flare is operated by Flare ApS (CVR: 45446840), Elmegade 6A, 2200 København N, Denmark ("Flare", "we", "us").

1. Information we collect

  • Account data such as email, name (optional), and authentication data.
  • Billing and subscription data (payment details are handled by Mollie).
  • User Content, including videos, audio, thumbnails, titles, tags, and related metadata.
  • Usage and analytics data (feature usage, clicks, sessions) via PostHog EU.
  • Technical data such as IP address, device/app version, logs, and security events.

2. How we use information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • Process subscriptions and provide customer support.
  • Secure the platform, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
  • Analyze product usage and performance (where permitted by law).

3. Public content and non-indexing

Public content. Videos are public by default and accessible to anyone with the link. Public videos may be embedded on third-party websites.

Not intended to be indexed. We configure the Service to discourage search engine indexing of video pages (for example, via "noindex" directives where applicable). However, search engines and third parties are independent, and we cannot fully control indexing or caching behavior outside our systems.

Link discovery risk. Even without indexing, public URLs may be discovered if shared onward, embedded publicly, or, in rare cases, via attempts to guess or enumerate identifiers. We use long, hard-to-guess identifiers and protective measures, but public links are not a guarantee of confidentiality.

4. Where data is stored and processed

  • Core application data is stored in the EU.
  • Media files are stored and delivered via Cloudflare in a global region.
  • Analytics are processed via PostHog EU.
  • Transcriptions run on Modal (serverless containers).
  • Infrastructure providers include Scaleway and UpCloud (EU VPS/infrastructure).

5. Subprocessors

  • PostHog (EU) - product analytics.
  • Cloudflare - media storage and delivery.
  • Modal - serverless compute for transcription.
  • Scaleway - database and VPS (EU).
  • UpCloud - VPS/infrastructure (EU).
  • Mollie - payment processing.

6. International transfers

Because media delivery and some processing may involve systems outside the EEA/UK, personal data may be transferred internationally. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. How we share information

  • With service providers who help us operate the Service.
  • With people you explicitly share videos or links with.
  • When required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users and Flare.
  • In connection with corporate transactions, with appropriate safeguards.

We do not sell personal data.

8. Retention

We retain data as long as necessary for the purposes described above. We may define and update retention periods for content, logs, backups, and inactive accounts. If a material change affects your stored content availability, we will provide at least 30 days' notice where reasonably possible.

9. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object or restrict processing. EU/EEA/UK users also have the right to lodge a complaint with their supervisory authority.

10. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies/local storage for authentication and security. We use analytics cookies/events for product analytics via PostHog EU; where required, we will request consent for non-essential analytics.

11. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data (access controls, encryption in transit, monitoring). No system can be guaranteed secure.

12. Children

The Service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

13. Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy. We'll post the updated version and revise the effective date.

14. Contact
